While most people try to be careful, you never know what can happen. Everyone has heard the stories and some have even had the misfortune of experience them.  Things go wrong from time to time and it helps if you are prepared!

What most students don't realize is that college renters insurance can provide coverage for items in their household.

New Student Health Plan Available

Just looking for student health insurance and found that the Assurant Student Select product that was the only national plan available to full-time students, was discontinued.  

This leaves a hole in the market and the only alternative that I could find is something called the StudentHealthPlan by GradGuard.  This is a blanket policy for members of College Parents of America, that is a Guarantee Issue product that offers $500,000 per condition and also include maternity, mental health and sub...

Follow up on Changes in Texas College Healthcare

In a follow-up to our entry last Friday, it seems appropriate to post this.

Inside Higher Ed blog writes a commentary on the business practice that Texas Colleges and Universities (those with more than 20,000 students) will be legally required to use by HB 103 (as soon as the governor signs it).

Why Aren't College Health Services 'In Network'?

One problem for college students is that, when they get sick, they'll often go to their college or university's student health center.  Why is this a problem?  Because many/most student health centers are not in network for those who are still covered by their families' insurance, leading to hefty bills for students (and a nice profit for the schools).
